Job Summary:

 

  • The Data Reporting Analyst is responsible for performing technology and data analysis related duties for the Grants Management Section.
  • This position will:
    • Work with and provide data, data analysis, and data dashboards for timely information to make data-driven decisions and to fulfill internal and external stakeholder requests.
    • Support and balance resources to enable timely access to critical Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) and grant funding data;
    • Engage in and support the development and implementation of data collection systems to support federal and state-required reporting as well as department and external stakeholder data and information requests;
    • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets and turn data into accurate information to inform data-driven decisions for program areas, agency leadership, and other business units.
    • In-state and out-of-state travel is required for this position.

·       Rare in-state and out-of-state travel is required for this position.

 

The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs).  Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

 

Knowledge in:

  • Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Microsoft (MS) SQL Server
  • SQL Server Reporting Services (MS SSRS)
  • MS Power Business Intelligence (MS Power BI)
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or related field and/or equivalent working experience to substitute for the degree is required.

 

Skills in:

  • High-level written and verbal communication
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Advanced skill in using Microsoft Excel

 

Ability to:

  • Collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Translate business requirements into non-technical, layman’s terms
  • Adept at SQL queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Work with stakeholders to assess potential risks
  • Ability to, both independently and with guided training
  • Learn new systems/platforms to be proficient in translation of extracted data into meaningful reports and data visualizations
  • Work with stakeholders to assess potential risks
  • Understand/interpret fiscal and accounting processes

Retirement:

 

You will be required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) upon your 27th week of employment, subject to waiting period. On or shortly after, your first day of employment you will be provided with enrollment instructions and effective date.
