Job Description:
Position Goal: The Speech Language Pathologist plans and provides direct therapy services to eliminate or reduce delays or impairments in articulation and receptive and/or expressive language that interfere with student’s ability to receive full benefit from their academic instruction.

- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology/Communication Disorders
- Certificate of Clinical Competency from the AZ Dept. of Education preferred
- Current state license to practice speech therapy in the state of Arizona
- Working knowledge of IEP development
- Knowledge of speech and language strategies required to reduce or eliminate communication delays in students PK-secondary
- Knowledge of AZ statute and IDEA guidelines for the delivery of speech and language services
- Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day as assigned
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in a clear and logical manner.
- Ability to establishing rapport with students, parents, faculty and staff.
- Ability to manage time effectively
- Ability to maintain all timelines in relation to state statute and IDEA regulations
- Ability to draft goals and present levels of performance for SLP review
- Ability to implement instructional strategies based on SLP assessments
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, administration and the community;

Essential duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports the Mission, Vision and goals of J.O. Combs Unified School District.
- Assess students with speech or language disorders and determine eligibility for services.
- Develop annual IEPs and complete 3-year re-evaluations.
- Develop daily speech services schedule.
- Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech/language goals contained in Individual Education Program (IEP).
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom based activities to improve oral and written language skills of students.
- Select appropriate materials, equipment, and supplies for therapy.
- Serve as a team member at a student’s IEP meeting
- Provides professional advice and consultation to staff related to communication needs and services in the schools for the response to intervention process.
- Act as case manager for speech language only special education students
- Documents students’ progress towards meeting IEP goals and objectives
- Communicate effectively with parents, teachers and principal.
- Register with and complete RMTS and MIPS billing
- Maintains records as required by law, school district policies and administrative regulations.
- Participate in professional growth activities such as conferences, classes, staff meetings and other opportunities
- Attend monthly speech language meetings.
- May be required to participate in student’s meetings which occur beyond the staff’s work assignment schedule.
- Monitors and assists in maintaining assistive devices
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or designee.
