Job Description:

The Wilson School District is looking for a highly qualified and certified English Language Development (ELD) Coach to teach for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. College graduates, Student Teachers and Teacher Interns are always encouraged to apply.  We offer a competitive hiring salary.     

Our hiring salary is $60,000.00 to $62,000.00 per year. Classroom Site Fund/Prop 301 (additional $8,500 is included in the salary), up to 10 years of Teacher experience. Teachers with the following education level can earn the additional salary: BA+15hrs ($1,140), BA+30 ($2,280), BA+45/MA ($3,420).  Other possible payment (if eligible) $3,000 for National Board-Certified Teacher, $1,500 for BLE, $1,000 for ESL, $500 for Prov ESL.  Performance Pay up to $3,000.00.

 

We also offer a stipend for hard to fill Teach positions: $2,000 Special Ed Teacher, $1,500 Math Teacher, $1,500 Science Teacher, and $1,000 Speech/Language Arts Teacher (Teachers will be eligible for one hard to fill stipend).

 

At Wilson School District, we believe that education should be shaped by a sense of purpose. The English Language Development (ELD) Coach is responsible for assisting the assigned schools' and district's instructional program as needed which involves such duties as modeling teaching methods and techniques in classroom settings, classroom management skills, assisting teachers in improvement of instruction, targeted intervention, aligning curriculum standards, ELP standard integration and conducting professional learning opportunities. The ELD coach is responsible for providing activities for the professional teaching staff with the express purpose of improving student achievement.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

 

· Coaches general education and ELD teachers on instructional strategies, lesson design, and classroom management to meet the objectives established for English language learners through the English Language Proficiency Standards.

· Supports teachers on planning and delivering instruction for Targeted ELD and/or Integrated ELD minutes as part of the approved state models.

· Conducts observations, walkthroughs, full coaching cycles and provides feedback that promotes ongoing teacher reflection and professional growth.

· Creates, facilitates, and monitors professional learning for leaders and collaborative teams.

· Attends and serves as a collaborative contributor for instructional leadership team meetings to support, model, and design English Language Development Improvement goals for Multilingual Learners aligned to School Improvement Goals.

· Ensures compliance of state and federal laws for English language learners including file audits, lesson plan compliance, and EL model implementation.

· Facilitates data meetings with teachers and collaborative teams as they analyze and make data driven decisions to impact student achievement.

· Works with a team to coordinate the administration of AZELLA assessments and placement tests.

· Follows district policies, procedures, and directives in a timely and appropriate manner.

· Maintains effective liaisons with professional cohorts and organizations to keep abreast of developments and research in the profession.

· Performs other coach-related duties as requested by the supervisor. 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field from an accredited college/university (Master’s Degree preferred and/or related work experience), demonstrated instructional expertise as evidenced by a minimum of five (5) years successful teaching

· Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate

· Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

 

 

 

 

 

 

PREFFERED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

 

· Master’s Degree preferred and/or related work experience, demonstrated instructional expertise as evidenced by a minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience.

· Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate

· Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

· Experience in developing and delivering ongoing, job-embedded professional development.

· Experience in leadership duties, responsibilities, and/or roles (e.g., Instructional Team Leader, Reading Support Teacher, or Math Support Teacher).

· Arizona SEI Endorsement

Wilson, a school board member.  The district name was changed in the mid-1930’s to Hawkins School.  From Wilson to Hawkins to Ward to Skiff, the District was bought by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and relocated to its current location in the early 1980’s and named Wilson Primary and Wilson Elementary, opening on Martin Luther King Day in 1985. The district boundaries cover an area from Roosevelt Street to the north; the Salt River to the south; 40th Street to the east; and 16th Street to the west.
