Job Title: Community Project Manager 

Advancing Wellness and Resiliency in Education (AWARE) Grant

 

Reports To:  Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Project Manager coordinates, manages and reports on all aspects of the AWARE program funded through the Arizona Department of Education Department/ Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services. The program is intended to build or expand district’s capacity to: 

(1) Build and support a sustainable infrastructure for comprehensive school mental health systems with established pathways to community-based supports and services for school age youth and their families; 

(2) Create sustainable engagement strategies with students’ families and community partners to promote mental health, wellbeing and resilience by increasing community/student involvement in policy development and decision making; and 

(3) increase knowledge skills and abilities of school staff families and the community to identify respond and support students experiencing a mental health and wellness need. At a minimum attend quarterly meeting with the state-level coordinators to ensure programmatic implementation at the site-level and appropriate submission of required data

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 Tasks, duties and responsibilities should not be considered an all-inclusive list of the work requirements. The Community Project Manager may be assigned other  duties.

  • Develop reports and submit data metrics to ADE AWARE team on:

(1) All grant required data metrics and activities including national outcome measures (NOMS), Indicators of Performance Plan (IPP) 

(2) Performance data to the public as part of SAMHSA's Congressional Justification

(3) Collect, analyze, and synthesizes and submit to ADE, information about the fidelity of implementation of evidence-based practices.

  • Liaison between school based and community agencies and partnerships.
  • Attends and participates in school-based mental health programs at the District level with the Project AWARE Steering Committee.
  • Attends Project AWARE meetings at the district and state level.
  • Monitors expenditures for the AWARE grant; Collaborates with the Business department to ensure that the fiscal responsibilities are met.
  • Manage and support project AWARE activities within the schools 
  • Provide support in developing and implementing a needs assessment.  Synthesizing data and based on a gap analysis develop action plans to engage students and their families.
  • Support staff in designing an outreach and awareness campaign to educate parents students, staff about mental health issues.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    • Experience in collecting, analyzing and reporting on various types of data

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent in both Spanish/English preferred
  • Ability to establish effectively with Project AWARE Grant Management Steering Committee 
  • Knowledge and experience working with the Native American community preferred

 

Knowledge of cultural, religious and social attitudes about mental health

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in education, mental health, public health, social work or a related field
  • Three or more years’ experience in planning and organizing large scale and complex projects
  • CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment
  • Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience working in schools or an agency 

COMPENSATION:

  • Based on experience and knowledge will be placed on the Maricopa Unified School Districts Administrative Compensation Plan – Level D 
  • 12-Month Work Calendar
  • This position is funded by the AWARE Grant through 2026
