Job Description:

TITLE: Interventionist
 Job Description: Under the direction of the Principal, the Intervention Teacher supports students by leading intervention classes (i.e. math, reading, writing, and science). The Intervention Teacher will develop lesson plans and provide direct instruction for intervention via assigned class sections.  In addition, the Intervention Teacher will provide data for MTSS, 504, and ESS meetings and communicate with parents, teachers, staff regarding progress or further interventions needed.  The Intervention Teacher may also assist general education teachers with the selection of appropriate curricula and the development and implementation of appropriate strategies.
Job Status: Certified position, full-time, ten (10) months, FLSA-Exempt Status, position is eligible for Prop 301 performance pay
Benefits & Wages: Based on the District’s benefits and wage placement schedule for certificated staff scale.
Qualifications:  

  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate  
  • Master’s Degree in education related field preferred
  • Possess or ability to secure an IVP fingerprint card
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Four (4)years or more of documented successful/teaching experience
  • Must have good computer operating skills (Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel,     proficient with student records software and curriculum software etc.)
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Able to work with students and staff as a collaborator and role model
  • Experience coordinating school intervention programs
  • Knowledge of and experience with research-based instructional practices
  • First-Aid/CPR certified
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Terms of Employment

  • Ten (10) Months a year.   

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Principal following Board approved evaluation policies.
 
 
 
 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports parent and staff understanding of the three (3) tiers of MTSS intervention and supports offered at each tier.
  • Implements screenings, and collects diagnostic, and progress monitoring data for the purpose of identification of struggling learners, instruction/intervention design, and students’ response to interventions.
  • Administers and interprets specific diagnostic screeners and curriculum-based assessment measures.
  • Monitors and reports out student achievement data associated with the multi-tier assessments.
  • Manages a student intervention caseload based on intervention cycles.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of specialized methodology for teaching struggling students.
  • Has an understanding of Universal Design for Learning and ability to apply to lesson plans and instruction.
  • Will attend MTSS and 504 meetings as appropriate.
  • Provides individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs.
  • Collect pre/post-intervention data on all students.
  • Compile and maintain student intervention files on a weekly basis.
  • Answers parent and staff inquiries.
  • Communicate with parents about student progress and recommendations for home-based methods and materials.
  • Participate in professional growth activities.
  • Cultivate a climate of learning and acceptance.
  • Performs additional duties s may from time to time be assigned by supervisor.
