Job Type: Part Time Position

Compensation: $35,000-$40,000

Apache Junction Unified School District: Apache Junction Unified School District reaches from the City of AJ toward the desert horizon, encompassing 217 square miles: from Meridian Rd. (Mesa, AZ) on the west, to the town of Queen Valley on the east, and from the Goldfield Mountains to the north, south into the San Tan Corridor. Communities served include Apache Junction, Gold Canyon, Peralta Trail, Queen Valley, and lots of wide-open unincorporated land in between.

What Do We Look For In A Teacher?

Apache Junction teachers drive our curriculum and instruction. We are looking for teachers who are capable of:

●     engaging 100% of students in their music lessons.

●     Plan, organize instructs and teach in Band, Choir, and general music as assigned in developing knowledge and skills in band in accordance with the course of study adopted by the Board of Education

●     Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student

●     Teach music theory and instrument techniques to help accomplish the performance level of music

●     helps students grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences which include singing, moving to music, playing of instruments, and listening and performs other duties directly related to this job description.

●     Conduct instrumental music rehearsal and coach individuals concerning their parts; position members within their instrumental group to achieve balance, dynamic, rhythm, tempo, and shading.

●     Select music to suit performance requirements and to accommodate the talents and abilities of the instrumental groups.

●     Evaluates each student’s musical growth and contribution to the performance of the group that allows everyone to contribute.

●     Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments, and equipment to prevent loss or abuse.

Requirements

●     Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a comparable field

●     Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

●     Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)

●     Valid Arizona Teacher Certification

●     Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the music and performing arts and at the same time must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field

●     optional: Arizona Highly Qualified status (college degree, passed ADE-approved reading test)

●     optional: Master’s Degree

Responsibilities and Duties:

●     Plan, develop and execute lesson plans.

●     Adapt teaching for individual students, small groups, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students or subgroups of students.

●     Evaluate the academic and social growth of students.

●     Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.

●     Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.

●     Provide learning experiences correlated with approved curriculum and State and District standards.
