Job Summary:

 

·       Under the supervision of an Audit Supervisor, this position performs the audit work needed throughout the audit process using established audit principles, theories, concepts and practices. All audit evidence is to be documented in audit working papers, which are reviewed by the assigned Audit Supervisor. Auditors also assist the Audit Supervisors in developing the audits' scopes, objectives and procedures and align them to established audit standards. Responsibilities also include writing audit finding drafts. Additionally, the position works with the assigned Audit Supervisor to perform administrative tasks as needed on each audit, such as scheduling meetings with the auditee and ensuring that the audit program is properly and fully completed. The position is also responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the audit test work and audit report drafts and is expected to perform the work necessary to meet the Audit Unit's established quality control process

·       In-state travel is required for this position.

 

The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs).  Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.

 

Job Duties:

 

  • Accurately performs audit work, ranging from routine to highly complex for Average Daily Membership and other audits according to audit standards using appropriate audit and analytic techniques and ensures that all work is documented in the audit working papers
  • Identifies and communicates audit work, conclusions, and audit findings to the assigned Audit Supervisor and Chief Auditor through team meetings
  • Drafts audit reports as directed by the assigned Audit Supervisor according to Audit Unit writing guidelines and appropriately prepares these reports for the Quality Control process

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

 

Knowledge in:

  • Principles, practices, concepts, methods, and techniques of auditing
  • Analysis and presentation of data and conclusions
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field or equivalent experience to substitute for the degree, is required.
  • 2+ years of auditing experience is required

 

Skills in:

  • Quantitative and qualitative research
  • Writing
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate skill in using Microsoft Word
  • Advanced skill in using Microsoft Excel
  • Basic skill in using Microsoft Outlook

 

Ability to:

  • Conduct data analysis
  • Identify and analyze organizational processes and identify potential solutions
  • Organize ideas verbally and in writing
  • Communicate effectively, both individually and in group settings

Retirement:

 

You will be required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) upon your 27th week of employment, subject to waiting period. On or shortly after, your first day of employment you will be provided with enrollment instructions and effective date.
