Summary/Objective
To provide speech and language services to students with disabilities under the direction and supervision of a certified Speech-Language Pathologist.
Starting Salary - $19.70 hourly
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:
- Responds to all internal and external customers, as it relates to the job, in a prompt, efficient, friendly, and patient manner
- Implements speech/language services following documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising speech-language pathologist
- Assists with informal documentation as directed by the speech therapist including collecting data for Individualized Education Programs
- Develops an awareness of individual student needs and assists the speech therapist in monitoring these needs
- Assists with instructing the educational staff concerning the use of adaptive equipment, materials, and integration of therapy goals into classroom academic activities to enhance function at the direction of the speech pathologist
- Assists with clerical duties such as preparing materials and scheduling activities
- Maintains current records under the therapist's supervision in accordance with school, state and federal policy
- Assists with keeping accurate records of therapy equipment and materials
- Consults with the pathologist overseeing work, concerning implementation and status of therapy goals
- Helps ensure the proper and safe use of any equipment or materials, including augmentative communication devices, and making certain equipment is properly maintained
- Meets with school staff as necessary concerning students

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a 9-month 40 hour per week position beginning in July and ending in May. This position is eligible for medical benefits. Employee will work ten hours per day Monday through Thursday during core school hours.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved training program or the equivalent from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university consisting of a minimum of 60 semester credit hours of general education and speech-language pathology technical coursework and a minimum of 100 clock hours of clinical interaction under the supervision of a licensed master's level speech-language pathologist
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience working with students or children.
Required Certifications/Licenses
Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant license through the Arizona Department of Health Services
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
