Salary Range:

$52,500.00 - $62,000.00 USD annually.

The Prep Digital+ Personalized Learning Advisor (PLA) serves as the main point of contact and the teacher of record, for assigned groups of students in the ASU Prep Digital+ program. The Prep Digital+ PLA will manage the day to day operations and lead several cohorts, at one or more of the ASU Prep Digital+ locations, developing and facilitating an innovative full-day program experience and will coach, motivate, and advise students to help them meet their own educational goals. At the direction of the Director of Prep Digital+, as well as the Prep Digital+ Program Manager, the PLA shares responsibility for all aspects of the program including, but not limited to: daily lesson and program planning, academic and social-emotional curricular programming, collaboration with ASU Prep’s Digital content teachers, as well as ASU Faculty to implement innovative cross-curricular project-based learning, tracking, monitoring and communicating information about student academics, behavior and attendance data to stakeholders, and assessing student progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching, academic coaching, social-emotional counseling, and/or college-going support for students.

  • Flex classroom/Modern classroom experience, preferred.

  • Content experience in: Humanities, Science, Math, English, Foreign Language, Electives, and Professional Guidance/College Readiness.

  • Experience with innovative technologies and online learning, highly preferred.

  • Arizona Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement for area of instruction.

  • Bilingual in Spanish, desired but not required. 

  • Active Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. 

  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teacher of record for several cohorts of students in assigned courses for each site, which may include: Project Based Learning elective, Experience course, Advisory course, and Learning Hub Independent Study. 

  • Spends 80% of working hours in direct contact with students on site and/or with guardians either in-person, via phone calls or Zoom meetings.

  • Develops and implements structures that support a positive classroom environment and community culture, track student attendance, and build a system to communicate concerns to families, 

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of an innovative cross-curricular semester-based exhibition of work created with students, in collaboration with ASU Prep Digital+ team, industry partners, as well as ASU faculty. 

  • Supports students in ASU Prep Digital courses by developing goals and plans for success with students and communicating frequently with teachers in all subject areas, as well as students’ Learning Success Coach and families. 

  • Responsible for developing a student-centered classroom structure incorporating intentional community-building, fostering student agency, and planning full-day program content for each assigned course and cohort collaborating with ASU faculty and industry experts, including field trip opportunities.

  • Provides individualized support to all Prep Digital+ students based on identified risk factors including academic, socio-emotional, and other potential issues to help develop individual plans for success in collaboration with ASU Prep support staff (ie. Social Worker, LSC, Case Manager, Teachers and Prep Digital+ team members).

  • Works with each assigned student regularly to develop an evolving ILP (Individualized Learning Plan) that  includes realistic goals that will contribute to their academic and personal success; develop relationships that foster a sense of belonging; use restorative practices  to resolve conflict within the community; motivate students to self-advocate on behalf of their educational goals.

  • Conducts ILP conferences with students and their families a minimum of 2 times throughout the school year.

  • Coaches students in-person, as well as by phone, email, text and other available online technologies.

  • Closely analyzes students’ progress on ASU Prep and ASU’s LMS (Canvas), and develops plans and strategies for academic progress, and provides communication with students, families and instructors.

  • Provides individualized support for students to ensure continued enrollment in the program.

  • Develops and implements engaging and innovative lessons aligned to ASU Prep’s Profile of Learning to provide students with 21st Century skill sets. 

  • Works with the Director and Program Manager to conduct virtual information sessions, open houses, and other community events, as assigned.

  • Supports program development and promotion by: hosting prospective family visits, and shadow days on-site multiple times a year; taking pictures and submitting for ASU Prep to post on social media; submit site updates to the monthly newsletter, and update websites and communication channels as needed.

  • Creates site-based documents to include, but not limited to: permission slips, attendance sheets, surveys, site-based rosters, and others as needed. 

  • Resolves problems by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions; implements solutions; escalates unresolved problems and follows up to ensure resolution of each issue.

  • Committed to “out of the box” thinking and solutions. 

  • Works collaboratively with other departments and services, across ASU Prep as well as ASU to understand processes, systems, and services and to resolve student issues.

  • Collaborates with the Program Manager, Director, and ASU Prep Digital team on successful student support. 

  • Provides proper and thorough documentation of interactions and processes as they evolve through the Incident Reporting documentation protocol.

  • Leads on-site four days a week and has one flex day. PLAs will need to be available to be onsite as 2nd on-site or as a sub if needed on flex days. 

  • Acts as a liaison between student, digital teacher, family, Program Manager and Director.

  • Participates in all program meetings, training sessions (Network and team), and committees, as scheduled.

  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability using the internet and social media websites.

  • Knowledge and background with Design thinking and/or Project Based Learning preferred.

Primary location is ASU West Valley with other various locations as needed

TRAVEL: 

Occasional travel may be required for site visits, meetings, trainings and/or conferences. Locations may vary and may require overnight stays.
