Job Description:
Morenci Unified School District is seeking a creative and flexible middle school art teacher to join our team at Fairbanks Middle School. The art teacher will be responsible for developing engaging lessons that nurture students' artistic skills and appreciation for art history. The ideal candidate will create an inclusive and inspiring classroom environment where students feel encouraged to explore different artistic techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver lessons on art techniques and art history that align with students' learning objectives.
- Prepare the classroom by gathering and organizing materials for lessons.
- Teach students various art techniques, including drawing, painting, and mixed media.
- Provide instruction on graphite, charcoal, oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting.
- Guide students in creative expression and artistic development.
- Assign and evaluate projects, ensuring constructive feedback and skill progression.
- Maintain student progress records and communicate with parents and guardians as needed.
- Ensure the classroom is clean and organized after lessons.
- Monitor inventory and source necessary art supplies.
- Participate in faculty meetings and parent-teacher conferences.
- Occasionally attend school events during evenings as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field; teaching certification preferred.
- Previous teaching experience in art education is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of a variety of artistic techniques and materials.
- Excellent classroom management, planning, and communication skills.
- Ability to foster a supportive and respectful classroom environment.
- A flexible and innovative mindset to engage students with diverse learning styles.
Other:
Salary: Starting at $51,280 for individuals with a Bachelor’s degree, plus eligibility for up to $8,800 in performance pay.
