Job Description:

High School Social Studies Teacher Requirements:

* Valid and current Arizona teaching certification and driver’s license (or ability to obtain prior to start of school) highly preferred.

* Deep understanding of high school Social Studies.

* Strategies for teaching the reading process

* Willingness to collaborate with colleagues in planning and implementing investigations in other academic areas as needed

* Competence with students and curriculum at the high school level

* Interest in providing other teachers with numeracy support through integrating numeracy instruction into their curriculum areas

* Willingness to differentiate instruction and provide accommodations in a fully inclusive setting

* Collaborate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of “intensives”.

* Arrange and facilitate well-planned fieldwork experiences to support expeditions

*Crew Leader

Preferred Attributes:

* Teaching experience at the middle school level in an Expeditionary Learning or similar program

*Teaching Certificate preferred *

* Experience with a range of Social Studies content

* Experience pulling in outside experts in a particular field to support particular studies

* Experience using fieldwork to support the content curriculum

* Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness First Aid, CPR, or related safety training for field settings
