GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: FLSA: Exempt
CCUSD is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and dedicated educational leader to serve as the Principal of Alternative Programs. This position is ideal for an individual with a passion for working with diverse student populations, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, and developing alternative education solutions to meet the needs of students who require different approaches to education.
The Principal of Alternative Programs will oversee the administration, planning, and execution of the district's alternative education programs, including but not limited to alternative high school, online learning programs, and other specialized educational services. This role involves collaboration with teachers, support staff, families, and community partners to ensure that all students are provided with the resources and opportunities to succeed academically and socially.
MAJOR TASKS:
- Lead and manage the district’s alternative education programs, ensuring they meet district goals and state/federal requirements.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement, engagement, and overall success.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff, including teachers and support personnel, within the alternative programs.
- Collaborate with families, counselors, and community agencies to support student needs and foster a holistic approach to education.
- Monitor and assess student progress through data analysis and regular feedback.
- Work closely with district leadership to advocate for program resources, enhancements, and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and district regulations, including all aspects of special education, student assessment, and safety protocols.
- Create a positive, safe, and inclusive school culture that promotes respect, responsibility, and personal growth for all students.
- Oversee the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and other tailored student support plans.
- Manage program budgets and ensure efficient use of resources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree/Master's preferred in Special Education, Administration, or a related field.
- Valid AZ Special Education Certification
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in education, with at least 2 years in an administrative role (preferably in alternative education settings).
- Experience with diverse student populations, including students with behavioral and academic challenges.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners.Experience in curriculum development, staff development, and educational assessment.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, policies, and best practices in alternative education.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive, equity-driven educational environment.
