GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: FLSA: Exempt
CCUSD is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Technician to join our Alternative Programs team. This role is designed for a professional who is passionate about providing behavioral support to students with diverse needs in a non-traditional learning environment. The Behavioral Technician will work closely with students, teachers, and support staff to implement individualized behavior plans and promote positive behaviors that lead to academic and personal success.
As part of the Alternative Programs team, the Behavioral Technician will play a key role in helping students develop appropriate social, emotional, and academic behaviors. This position is ideal for someone who has a strong understanding of behavioral strategies and enjoys working with students who may face challenges in a traditional educational setting.
MAJOR TASKS:
- Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students with behavioral and emotional challenges.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students to promote positive behaviors and social skills.
- Monitor student progress and document behavioral data to track student success and make necessary adjustments to interventions.
- Work closely with the Special Education team, teachers, and counselors to coordinate behavior interventions and academic support.
- Assist in the development of individualized behavior strategies for students based on their unique needs and goals.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed to ensure student safety and a positive learning environment.
- Assist in the development and delivery of social skills programs and behavioral coaching for students.
- Collaborate with parents and guardians to communicate progress and provide strategies for supporting students at home.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree or higher in Psychology, Education, Social Work, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- Certification or experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Behavioral Intervention, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with students in an educational setting, especially students with behavioral and emotional challenges.
- Knowledge of behavioral management techniques and strategies.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of educators, counselors, and administrators.
- Ability to maintain calm and effective responses in challenging situations.
- Compassion, patience, and a commitment to supporting students in their academic and social growth.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and document student progress.
