Job Description:

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Physical Therapist screens, identifies, and addresses physical development needs by adapting classroom environments, modifying curriculum, and supporting accommodations to ensure access and participation in school activities and educational programs.

 

Job Responsibilities

Essential Functions: __ Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Assesses students' functional capabilities and home and/or classroom environment for the purpose of determining student's functional level and developing recommendations and/or placement.
  • Communicates with students and/or parents with teachers and/or other personnel for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
  • Consults with teachers, parents, other personnel and/or outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services and/or making recommendations.
  • Coordinates with community agencies including medical, judicial, social service and mental health services for the purpose of determining appropriate treatments, etc. to meet the needs of specific students.
  • Develops treatment plans, interventions and/or educational materials for the purpose of meeting individualized student objectives and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. evaluations, correspondence, memos, treatment plans, reports, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Researches resources and methods (e.g. intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing students' functional goals.
  • Screens students for the purpose of determining the need for further individualized assessment.

  • Developing and implementing IEPs
  • Adapting learning environments and curriculum to meet special needs.
  • Preparing clear and concise reports.
  • Maintaining accurate records and technical documents.
  • Interacting tactfully with District staff and outside agencies.
  • Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Operating a computer and related software.

 

Education and Experience:

Must have graduated from an accredited university with a degree in Physical Therapy and hold a current license.

 

Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:

Must be licensed by the State of Arizona as a Physical Therapist.

A valid State driver’s license may be required.

A valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card is required.

 

Work is performed in an office and classroom environment and requires the operation of standard office equipment such as personal computer and related software, fax machine, and copy machine. May be exposed to potentially contagious illnesses from students.
