Job Summary:

The Superintendent/Principal is the instructional leader and chief executive officer of the Naco Elementary School District, serving grades K–8. This dual-role position combines district-level leadership with day-to-day school administration. The Superintendent/Principal is responsible for providing educational vision, managing personnel and finances, overseeing curriculum and instruction, maintaining facilities, and building strong relationships with families and the broader community

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Leadership & Governance

  • Serve as the educational leader of the district and school, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.

  • Advise and support the Governing Board with policy development, planning, and legal compliance.

  • Attend and prepare reports for Governing Board meetings, implementing Board-approved policies and decisions.

Instructional Leadership

  • Lead and supervise the development and implementation of a high-quality curriculum aligned with state standards.

  • Support and evaluate instructional staff using a research-based framework for teacher effectiveness.

  • Analyze student performance data to guide instructional improvements and interventions.

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.

School Administration

  • Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, discipline, student services, and extracurricular activities.

  • Monitor student attendance, discipline, and academic progress.

  • Promote a positive school culture built on mutual respect, high expectations, and collaboration.

Personnel Management

  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and evaluate all district employees, including teachers, aides, and support staff.

  • Create a professional learning environment with opportunities for staff development.

  • Ensure compliance with HR laws, employee contracts, and district policies.

Finance & Facilities

  • Develop and manage the district budget in collaboration with the Governing Board and business staff.

  • Ensure proper allocation of resources to support teaching and learning.

  • Oversee facility maintenance, school safety procedures, and long-range capital planning.

Community Engagement

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the school district and parents, community members, and local organizations.

  • Communicate effectively and frequently with stakeholders through meetings, newsletters, and public forums.

  • Represent the district at county, regional, and state meetings as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Arizona Superintendent and/or Principal certification (or eligibility for certification).

  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field required

  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience.

  • Prior administrative experience (site-level and/or district-level) preferred.

  • Experience in small, rural school settings is highly desirable.



Other:

Benefits:

  • $80,000 to$ 85,000–  Salary, depending on experience as determined by the Governing Board 

  • $5,000.00– Performance Bonus as determined by the board from the superintendent’s evaluation  

  • Health Insurance to include vision and dental 

  • $50,000 life insurance policy  

  • 25 days of vacation, 12 days of general level 

  • 4 day work week 

  • 1 to 3 years contractual terms (208 days per year), as determined by the Governing Board
