Position Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Location: Business Services
Reports To: Superintendent Supervises: Department personnel
Classification: Certified Status: Full-time

Qualifications
- Any Combination equivalent to:
- Master's degree in finance, business, accounting, or public administration or CPA preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting, public administration or related field and five years increasingly responsible experience in public school district auditing, budgeting, payroll and administration or
- The equivalent combination of experience and education that demonstrates the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the position. Increasingly responsible experience in public accounting or public school business administration with at least four (4) years at a management level in a complex computerized environment.
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience in public school auditing, business administration.
- IVP fingerprint clearance card through AZ Department of Public Safety
Function
- To provide strategic financial leadership and stewardship of all fiscal operations of the district, ensuring alignment with the district’s mission, goals, and legal compliance.
Responsibilities and Requirements
FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP AND BUDGETING
- Develops, manages, and monitors the district’s annual budget in compliance with state and federal requirements
- Provides timely financial forecasts, analysis, and reporting to the Superintendent, Governing Board, and stakeholders
- Oversees and implements budget procedures ensuring site-level input and transparency
ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING
- Supervises all accounting operations including payroll, accounts payable, and receivables
- Ensures timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance with auditing standards
- Oversees the investment and safeguarding of district funds
PROCUREMENT, INVENTORY AND RISK MANAGEMENT
- Ensures all purchasing procedures comply with state procurement laws and district policy
- Oversees warehousing, inventory systems, and distribution of district materials
- Manages risk mitigation efforts, including insurance coverage and asset protection
- Plans, implements, and manages all district insurance programs, including liability, property, and employee coverage
- Manages district-owned real estate and related financial considerations, including leasing, acquisitions, and property compliance
FACILITIES AND CAPITAL PROJECTS
- Oversees fiscal planning and financial oversight of facility maintenance and capital improvements
- Coordinates financial aspects of construction, bond, and capital projects in conjunction with operations staff
SUPPORT SERVICES OVERSIGHT
- Provides fiscal oversight for food service, transportation, and other operational departments
- Partners with support service departments to align operational goals with financial planning
STAFF PERSONNEL
- Responsible for recruitment, supervision, and evaluation of assigned business services staff
- Promotes professional development and cross-training within the department
GOVERNANCE & STRATEGIC PLANNING
- Supports and advises the Superintendent and Governing Board on fiscal policy and long-range planning
- Attends Governing Board meetings, prepares financial documents, and presents information as needed
- Upholds Board policies and supports board decisions to staff and the public

- Responsible in remaining current and up to date in all matters pertaining to financial and business operations of the district.
ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM
- Responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and interpretation of policies, regulation and procedures as they pertain to the position.
- Responsible for assisting the administrative team in the research, training, interpretation, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of identified financial and support issues.
- Supports Administrative Team decisions, to the public and staff.
- Responsible for performing other job-related duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

- Interprets and executes the intent of Board policy pertaining to Business Services.
- Supports Board policy and actions to the public and staff.
