The Manager of Special Programs is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, and implementation of instructional programs and services for English Learners (ELs) and Gifted students in a virtual K–12 school environment. The coordinator will ensure compliance with federal and state mandates, support the development of rigorous, inclusive instruction, and provide professional development and instructional coaching to staff. The role requires collaboration with teachers, school leaders, and the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) to meet the academic and linguistic needs of diverse learners.

Job Specific Skills/Abilities:

  • Fundamental principles and accepted practices, current trends, literature and research in English Learners.
  • Understands Gifted, EL and other special programs regulations and best practices.
  • Use a variety of evidence-based methods, techniques, and practices in Gifted and EL related compliance.
  • Work effectively with all racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socio-economic groups; - implement staff development and in-service resources.
  • Make formal, public presentations.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
  • Expertise in State/Federal Rules and Regulations regarding English Language Learners and Gifted Education in Arizona.
  • Understanding of instructional strategies and evidence-based practices for multilingual learners and Gifted students.
  • Proficiency in using data for instructional planning and program evaluation.
  • Commitment to equity and ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.

Education/Training:

  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate (with SEI and Gifted endorsements preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in EL and/or Gifted education settings preferred.
  • Experience working in a virtual or online K–12 learning environment is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of five (5) years previous teaching experience or similar experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of a leadership role preferred.
